Migration FAQ
Table of contents
At the moment, we are rolling out the migration tool to our users. Want to start, but don't have access yet? Let our Support or Product team know!
Once you're done reading, head over to this full migration guide, where we navigate through the process step by step.
⭐ Your benefits
Let's discuss how this step in your Multilogin journey will benefit your business.
What is Multilogin X?
Multilogin X is the latest generation of our software. With major enhancements to its core functionality, we've made it more stealthy, fast, flexible, and reliable than ever before.
Multilogin X isn't just a surface-level makeover with new interface tweaks and features. We've rebuilt the entire app from the ground up – that's why instead of a version update, migration is our next step.
Why should I migrate?
While developing the app, we put your feedback into action and added the most requested features:
- 👩💻 API-first approach: Automate and scale your business effectively with our comprehensive API documentation and knowledge base articles
- 🕵️ Robust antidetect protection: We do daily testing on 50+ websites to ensure the highest success rates with registering accounts, collecting data, making purchases, submitting forms, and more
- 🛡️ Multilogin proxy: Get premium residential IPs and 5 GB of bonus traffic directly from your profile settings
- 💻 Local profiles: Along with cloud profiles, you can now benefit from local profiles that store profile data on the device and work exceptionally fast
- ✨ Web interface: Manage team members, groups, and browser profiles (create, clone, and move) from any browser
- 🤝 New team member roles: Take control of your team's access to profiles with four new roles designed to meet your needs
- 🗄️ Workspaces: Separate your projects and switch between them seamlessly
- ⚡ Advanced bulk actions: Effortlessly launch and stop profiles, move them to groups, or restore from trash bin
- 🗑️ Trash bin: Keep your account organized by moving profiles to trash bin, where you can restore them if needed or delete permanently to make space
Do I need to pay for migration?
No – and if you have an active Multilogin 6 subscription, you will get it in Multilogin X for free!
Once you log in, your paid Multilogin 6 plan will become available in X. For example, if you have a Team plan in Multilogin 6, you will automatically get a Team plan in X with another set of plan limits.
Can I keep using Multilogin 6?
We plan to discontinue Multilogin 6 in 2025. Until then, it will keep getting new browser core versions only. We're dedicated to providing you with the best product possible, which is why we're putting all our focus on Multilogin X.
Using the same profile both in Multilogin X and 6 may cause data discrepancies and bans. You can only migrate a profile once.
💡 Your concerns
Don't overthink: we did it for you. Here's a recap of what's going to happen to your profiles.
What will be migrated?
Accounts:
- Master account holders and team members will be able to log in to Multilogin X with their Multilogin 6 credentials
- Team members will get access to the same groups they can access in Multilogin 6
Cloud profiles:
- Fingerprints (for example, User-Agent, operating system, screen resolution values)
- Settings (for example, a port scan protection toggle)
- Proxy details (proxy IP or hostname, port, login, and password)
- Metadata (for example, profile name and ID)
- Session data (for example, cookies, history, tabs)
- Notes
Groups:
- Names
- Access (the same team members will get access rights to their selected groups)
Have profiles in the “Unassigned” group? It's best to move them to a separate group before the migration.
Will my fingerprints change?
All profiles will keep the same fingerprint, so it's safe to migrate and continue using them on your target websites. Feel free to compare and verify using browserleaks.com.
Using “Noise” for WebGL or Canvas? Because of the difference in masking, the hash of these parameters will change.
But there is nothing to worry about: it's common for hashes to change over time without triggering detections, especially as regular users update their setups.
Can migration trigger bans?
Good news – we've extensively tested the flow and didn't encounter any issues with account restrictions. If your profiles function correctly on version 6, they'll be fully compatible with Multilogin X.
You can always test the waters: migrate a couple of profiles and see this process firsthand!
⚠️ Before you start
There aren't many conditions for success, but they are important. Don't skip this!
Which profiles can be migrated?
There are only two conditions:
- Profiles must have the latest core version
- Profiles must have cloud storage
Check whether you have the latest Multilogin 6 version installed, then launch every profile – the cores will be updated automatically.
Can I migrate my profile twice?
No – you can only migrate each profile once!
If you continue using profiles in Multilogin 6 after they are migrated, further changes won't be synced. This may cause data discrepancies and account restrictions.
⌛ About the process
We tried to make this as easy as pie. But if something doesn't go as planned, we're here to handle it.
How long does migration take?
In this case, doing nothing is the key to the best result (it’s a pity that this approach only applies to migration, isn’t it?) 😁
Can I use Multilogin during migration?
✔️ Multilogin X is ready for action! You can start using migrated profiles or create new ones right away.
❌ Multilogin 6 won’t be available to all users until migration is complete.
How do I check migration status?
You'll get helpful hints and detailed instructions right in the app. Additionally, your team members – if you have them – will get an email once migration is started and finished.
If things don't go smoothly during the process, don't stress! Just send a migration report to our support team. We'll dig into what went wrong and sort out any problems.
A migration report is sent automatically to your account email after the migration, and you can also download it in the app.
Migration complete – what now?
In Multilogin X, you can start using profiles immediately.
In Multilogin 6, profiles will remain unchanged and available. But there's a catch: if you use them here, further changes won't be synced to X and you won't be able to migrate them again.
Using the same profile both in Multilogin X and 6 may cause data discrepancies and bans. You can only migrate a profile once.
